Game of Rhônes Season 8

Winter never comes to Singapore

But at long last, Season 8 of Game of Thrones is here and we are recapping the best of the new arrivals from the Rhône that we have welcomed over the past few months.

2015 Eric Texier Domaine de Pergaud St. Julien en St. Alban Blanc Vieille Marsanne

Dense and intense, in part from months of maceration in tinajas, 2015 is a very unique vintage for this wine. There is immense aging potential here. Contrary to what has been spread, the 2015’s actually have very high acidity due to elevated levels of tartaric acid during the harvest. No addition of SO2!

2016 Domaine du Trapadis Côtes du Rhône Villages Roaix

NV Domaine des Bernardins Muscat de Beaumes de Venise VDN «Hommage»

The «Hommage» is a blend of 75% white and 25% black Muscat à petits grains. Hand-picked, fermented off the skins, native yeasts only, Intensely flavoured with dried fig, candied quince, hazelnut, star anise and a long honeyed finish. Classic pairings are blue cheeses and foie gras, but it will also work beautifully alongside tartes, rich desserts (such as coffee), dried fruits and nuts as an aperitif. The intensity of flavour will also appeal to those committed cigar-smokers among you. Drinking beautifully now, but will keep for at least another decade.
